Are women too obsessed with beauty and materialism? Is it immoral to have beauty videos directed at teens? How important is beauty to younger viewers? Do you feel pressured at school to always look perfect, wear nice clothes and have brand name items? Do you feel that Youtube puts more pressure on teens to be more image conscious?

Hey Julia, I’m 17, …
Hey Julia, I’m 17, and I completely agree with you. Makeup and beauty is fun and all, but I think people my age tend to get carried away with it all. That’s not to say I don’t; I feel a LOT of pressure on my appearance, I do, but there’s more important things in life than they way we look.
I’m just going to try to live my life to the fullest right now, the way I am. Youth doesn’t come back with time.
early 20s ? you …
early 20s ? you have to be early 20s like 20 or 21! you look so young!

Make up is fun, and …
Make up is fun, and makes us look preaty, but doesn’t make us happier.
I use make up every time I go dancing, or when I’m modelling for my photos (I’m an amatour photographer) and I consider that a lot! But is really up tou you to decide what and when to use make up, and only to you.
I’m 17 nright now …
I’m 17 nright now and I still remember how is like to be 13 years old and found out that people moke more to your face and your clothes than your personality. Of course if you ask some young teen, and also some old teens to, they all will say that ”oh no! i don’t care what they say and bla bla bla”. We all know that the way we look influence a lot the way people thing about us. It’s the reality but what is important is that there is no need for the apearence to rule our lifes.
I feel the same way …
I feel the same way. I’m a bit self conscious, which I’m sort of ashamed to admit, but I like looking nice–but I also like being artsy with my makeup. I’m always afraid people are going to walk into the bathroom, see me doing my makeup and think I’m a self-centered brat. I like bright, some might call “outlandish” make-up designs: magenta-to-yellow gradients, big swathes of green and blue. I don’t wear it to school but if I could, I would, because it’s me. (:
It’s funny, I have …
It’s funny, I have brand name clothes, but I like wearing the ones I get on sale at Kohl’s or happen to find at thrift stores or even hand-me-downs from my older cousin. They’re not all the same. They’re diverse. I think more people need to realize that.
Do you know that …
Do you know that these buttons exist: , ; : . ?
no.
just no.
no.
just no.
I’m 13 and i have …
I’m 13 and i have brand name clothes but heck i go to school in sweat pants but i dont care it just school who cares what you look like and if people care what you look like there stuck up snobs. Yeah i have makeup but its not like i wear it to school I’m only in middle school. But thanks for doing this vid i am very grateful that my mom works 2 jobs to get me this or get me that and i am very lucky to have what i have and i know that but anyways i really like your vids keep em coming
I am 15 years old …
I am 15 years old and I have to say I do buy brand makeup, BUT I buy it because my skin is like f*c*ing ALLERGIC so I use Clarins, Clinique and estee lauder makeup (mostly) because they are speciall for sensitive-allergic skin (not kidding, chanel and some mac foundtions give me allergy). makeup that doesn’t gimme trouble and isn’t expensive: nyx eyeshadows. but anyways, I don’t even comb my hair for school and makeup in partys and weekends (sometimes) I makeup and hair dress myslf when Im bored
I completely agree …
I completely agree with you. I love the pure art of it ,but all in all you really don’t need make-up you are who you are. I know some girls at my school that really are like that. It’s a little upsetting. They ask me as well can we put make-up onyou I tell them I don’t really need to they look at me like I’m a freak. Plus if you do wear it all the time you wear out the art of it. Make-up personally I think should come in moderation like wear a dress or a skirt, you don’t wear them everyday. TY
Wow, in my life I …
Wow, in my life I have been married and divorced. Since then I’ve done some dating, but I’ve never met someone with the passion, kindness and consideration you display in this video. Not to mention the humbleness you resonate, I hope to meet someone with these attributes one day. I applaud your message to the younger women you have sent here. Maybe you don’t see yourself as a role-model, but I think you earn that title when you do something as generous and resonsible as you have done here. Thx.
im 14, and yes, i …
love your videos
im 14, and yes, i do feel pressured to look rly good at school and have brand name clothes and stuff, but i dont feel that youtube puts more pressure on teens to look “perfect”. Not for me anyway. I just love makeup, and i think its fun to watch tutorials and other videos on makeup on youtube.
you’re a very …
you’re a very responsible role model! Thanks for your tutorials and your piece of advice. You’re great!
this is probably …
this is probably one of the best videos on youtube and you really get the point across. I think that all the makeup gurus should have some sort of link to this video on their channels. Your an amazing artist by the way =)

I’m 14 and a freshman in highschool and I really want to me a cosmetologist because I love hair and makeup I do like all my friends makeup and hair for parties and such but the makeup I use isn’t alot of money I use inexpensive
stuff because I really don’t see the point of getting things so expensive
also I don’t feel presured by school because I don’t care what people think and alot of them label me as emo goth scene like I ignore it
I just find myself different.
xx
I completely get …
I completely get what your saying now im 17 myself and i see girls around me feeling the need to have what their role models have,i think its partly a feeling to wanting to be accepted and also maybe that they want to feel less self secure. but i dont see the need for people to copy others they should be unique and have a happy childhood instead
@alltimedani i had …
@alltimedani i had pretty much the same experience as you so far.I’ve alwys viewd makeup as a fun art + utube gurus as artists + i don’t envy them as a person, their skills,i hope to achieve smday.i’m the MUG with most of my friends + smtimes spend 1/2 the schoolday w/o + the other w/ makeup, cmfrtbl in both.wat’s funny is tht i’m nt the friend who needs 2 have a face on all the time tht’s tryin 2 be natural,i put makeup on infront of ppl.I hate tht they feel this way about THEIR FACE,apart of u.
Hi there. I’m 20 …
Hi there. I’m 20 and I do totally agree with what you’re saying. I love make-up and I do wear it when I want to look “pretty” but it shouldn’t be a necessity, it’s not the most important thing in the world. When I was in highschool I had bad acne and I was upsested with wearing foundation, concealer, powder, I mean I wouldn’t do to a swim party without face make up on and that’s just rediculous, once my face started to clear up, I started to let it go, but you should always be yourself
I’m 16, and I get …
I’m 16, and I get what you’re saying. I think it depends a lot on your society and life. I try to look “perfect” all the time, but it’s because I want to look presentable and conceived as the person I am. So I never wear sweats, hoddies or sneakers. And I know I may not have the best values, but it’s for myself and feeling good.
I don’t do my hair at all though. X)
im 20 years old and …
im 20 years old and I totally agree with what your saying. But at sometimes When I watch these guru vids It makes me a little selfconcious abt myself bc they have more money better quality makeup then I do.But then I think that they have those things bc they are older and as I get older and furhter my education I will be able to afford the nice things but as of now this is my first year outta my teens and Im just gonna enjoy it and have fun.
hey julia!!! im 16 …
hey julia!!! im 16 and in love with fashion. i wanna be a fashion designer. to me, fashion is important just because i want to have a career field in this area. but i do agree that some girls really and truly idolize too much sometimes with others. i think its okay to idolize someone, but they should set their own fashion statements and at a young age, they should have limits as to when they should be dressed up. i am actually starting to dress my age a little more. on occasion i dress up.
