Should religious conservatives take some responsibility for all the teen pregnancies they helped create?

Posted at September 29th, 2009 by admin

Abstinence-only sex-education leads to more teen pregnancy. If kids know how to use condoms and birth control pills then they will.

YES!
I also have issues with the silver ring thing…it preaches abstinecn only ed. and is funded by the bush admin.

They actually said that birth control didnt work, dont bother.

EDIT: to the answerer that said churches have no hold: How do explain the silver ring thing? It is funded by bush admin., yet they are a relgious group..

religious conservatives are not responsible for teens who are sexualy active!!! show me one teen that hasn’t heard about condoms or birthcontrol pills.. you buy condoms there are instructions on the box! and who hasn’t heard of planned parent hood? you get free condoms there!
they are telling teens that the best way to prevent pregnancy is to not have sex! which is an awesome message because being on birthcontrol doesn’t always work, so why give them a false sense of security?
sorry but the only person to blame is the irresponsible teen, it should not be the role of the government to teach us about sex but your own parents! we also live in the information age.. google it!

Of course they should. I’m not saying that liberals are amazing or anything, but I think everyone needs to face facts and own up to the results of their actions.

nope, the only responsable person should be the pregnant teenager. They can’t say "we didn’t know this we didn’t know that" everyone learns that stuff at school!

You actually believe religious conservatives have any influence in schools? And are responsible for dumb kids screwing one another and getting knocked up? That’s the best laugh I’ve had all day.

Teenagers today do not suffer from an excess of religion or conservatism. They suffer from immaturity, unreasonable expectations, arrogance, and magical thinking.

They know about condoms and birth control pills. They don’t use them because they don’t want to think. The pretty teenagers having consequence-free sex on the television and the big screen don’t ever have to think, so why should anyone else have to?

You can’t blame their attitude on churches. The churches haven’t had hold of the kids in their formative years for decades. None of y’all were born then.

Stop blaming religion for the stupid, uninformed mistakes teens make. Preaching abstinence doesn’t cause teen pregnancy. Young teens acting like they know what life is all about, believing they have all the answers, and doing things they are not ready for or truly informed about is what causes teen pregnancy. If they knew how to take responsibility for their actions and their bodies, and were as mature as they think they are their wouldn’t be unwanted pregnancy. You’re not as grown up and mature as you think you are. The insanity of this questions proves your maturity level.

No. It’s not religous people’s fault that the USA refuses to see girls as adults when they get their first period and won’t let them get married. In many cultures and countries outside the USA it is acceptable and lawful for girls to get married if they have their period @ 14 and older. It helps stem down on "Teen" pregnancies.
