Is Miss Teen Carolina proof that girl are discriminated against in education?

Poor Miss Teen Carolina!

Why is the current generation of girls dumbed down so much? Is this proof of discrimination against girls in the education system and what can we do to stop it?

Neh, it's just proof that winning a beauty contest was more important to her than her education. She sacrificed her learning in order to be in beauty contests. It's sad, but it's her's and her parents' fault, no one else.

    Proof of discrimination?

If anything, it's proof that they're CODDLED.

They are dumb when they start dating when they are 16. Parents should teach their kids dating is OK but please start when you are 21. Before that study and excel in education and sports…. This applies to all women world over. LOL

Aw, let her go. She tried. Of course it doesn't prove any such thing. Could you give a cohesive answer in 90 seconds? And she has learned so far to get by on her looks.

Possibly, often times girls feel that they will intimidate boys and other girls if they show how smart, athletic, independent, etc. they can be. I may not agree with everything that feminists believe in, but a lot of their points about women's liberation are valid. Besides, these girls are going to grow up and be mothers someday, and we need them to be as strong as possibly in the crazy world of today.

One person cannot be proof of discrimination in such a broad sense.

Being part of "the current generation" I am a little offended at the idea of all of us being dumbed down. Women (that means young women too) now have the choice, we can be focused and determined and the help will be there. but if we choose to be flaky and ditzy, no one is going to stop us.

our education system is in ruins in general. boys are about as equally uneducated as girls. and, in my opinion, it's all about economics, not gender. go to a poor area, check out the school. then go to a rich area, check out THAT school. the wealthy get decent educations; the poor do not. The hidden class system in America is harder to get rid of than either racism or sexism.

actually, on the bright side, girls have been doing better on tests etc than they were a decade ago.

Give her a break. I think she was really nervous, and hadn’t eaten all day, and she was just getting woozy or something.
