I am just curious. I buy music from the Itunes store.
And as for the teens/preteens that DO buy music. Where do you get the money from?

Well here in Canada we got a "tax" on blank media like CDRs DVDRs, etc. that goes to pay for royalties. This means we can download stuff cuz it's already paid for (in a different way from USA).
But then I also got a problem with payin for stuff from people who have sued their customers (this would be music companies from USA) so I never buy their stuff. So I will only buy stuff from artists that ain't associated with those music companies.

I download my music. I never buy unless the cd is one that I want to listen to all day everyday. Like Plies or Chris Brown. I have a iPod but the only time I buy things from the iTunes store id if it's a music video or a movie. I don't waste money unnecessarily.

the money usually comes from b-days and xmas and stuff, i dont buy stuff often enough to need alot more than that.

I always buy my music on iTunes which is legal. I use the money that my grandparents send me for my birthday, christmas and such. I don't understand why people download their music illegally, in the end all you're doing is stealing from the artists who make the music and the record company's since you are not paying for what they created and put out.
That's why the music industry is dying. Everyone is borderline stealing the pieces of music that bands and artists create and that results in them getting payed less and that makes them tour more to actually have enough money to support themselves. The music industry is their job and if everyone keeps downloading album and songs illegally I don't even want to think about what could possibly happen.
Think about it, sure you're getting the song for free but what happens as a result of that download? Do you really want your favorite band or artist to suffer as a result of their album not selling enough and it going on discount at the store because of it? I don't think you do, so why do you download illegally?

i do a bit of both. honestly, as said, if you have MANY songs, you just can't afford to buy them all unless you're a gazillionare.
but i don't use limewire. i frikken hate limewire. you have to go and download each song individually… and you never get a full album. i use bittorrent/utorrent. much better.
but if i like the album, and i have some extra change (that i get from my parents), i'll buy it to show my support to the artist [: but i'll go to a cd store and buy it, cause i like having the actual cd case &blabla [: i know, i'm suchanerd. hah.

For me depends. If it a single song, from some popular band, or a song that I will use for a video on YouTube I download. But if I plan on buying CD I always 1stly listen online (iTunes) and than buy whole in shop or iTunes. I earn my money by reading to blind end eldery.

I download them from Limewire but I don't do it illegally as it's not illegal as I don't sell it and Limewire songs aren't illegal unles you sell them.
