Wondering about the hypocrisy within the republican party.
although i’m not a supporter of sarah palin, i think this is a ridiculous argument. #1 everyone is a hypocrite, even you…EVEN me. everyone is.
#2 a parent can only do so much to instill their values in their children; after a certain age all a parent can do is hope that the child digested and actually retained some of the morals, values and knowledge for future use.
it shows the flaw in palin’s drive for abstinence education, hopefully to herself as possible future V.P., but i don’t think its fair or anything but petty to drag palin’s private home and family life into the argument as a good enough point to actually base peoples whole decision on.
a better argument would be mccains hypocrisy in bringing a very inexperienced governor to the ticket when his big argument about obama is his lack of experience. and that IS a good point, she has little experience and doesn’t seem like the type to be a quality running mate or a good person to stand in place of the president “in case of heart attack—i mean emergency” its a weak attempt at winning female votes, namely soccer moms or *hockey moms* and i have to say, based on the known facts i DO hope that women in general are intelligent enough to see through this ploy and make their decision based on merit and policies and not faces.

Profuse? I do not think this word means what you are thinking it is meaning.

Because while we can teach our kids our morals and values, they are still independent and possess the power to make their own choices. You can preach at a child the importance of abstinence all you want….but in the heat of the moment, will that child really stop and think, wait my mom said I shouldn’t do this? Yes, hopefully it is so ingrained in their heads and hearts that it doesn’t even become an issue yet we live in a world where sex is on tv, in the songs on the radio and on the minds of most of their peers. Sadly (to me) it has become a norm of society….but our kids WILL make mistakes and they WILL do just the opposite at times as what we hope….just so happens in this case it involves many other people and the public eye to view the “mistake”.

Okay, just because one person with a pregnant teenage daughter is a staunch supporter of abstinence-only education, that does not mean that the entire Republican party shares that view.
How does her having a pregnant daughter reflect on the views of the GOP as a whole?

Abstinence education doesn’t work.

“Students who participated in sexual abstinence programs were just as likely to have sex within a few years as those who did not, according to a long-awaited study mandated by Congress.”
To continue to support it is completely irrational.
By using contraceptives teenagers can reduce their pregnancy and abortion rate. It’s common sense, yet religious conservatives decry it.
