Palin seems even more clueless than the 437 who didn't have enough common sense to have a 30 staff person oversight agency (costing < $20M per year) to say, "No, you can't sell sub-prime mortgages. When the market recedes, that will cause a disaster."

When you give me a thumbs down, kindly remeber that I’m liberal, was a misfit in highschool, knew all about sex and drugs and yet some how did NOT end up pregnat at 17 like Palin’s adorable daughter. :-p

Adoc, the reason Sarah Palin's 17-year-old daughter is getting a free pass by some people who claim not to care is because she's white. Imagine what would have happened been if a similar situation had occurred with one of Barack Obama's daughters. I can guarantee that he would not have gotten the same reaction if he had openly paraded his underage pregnant daughter onstage like she did at the Republican Convention. He would have been called every racist term there is and he would have been characterized as being a bad father. Michelle would have been heavily criticized, too. However, Sarah Palin is praised as being a good mother and her daughter only made a mistake. Why the double standard?

Well, I'm conservative and voting for McCain/Palin, but I don't agree with her abstinence plan. It's just not very realistic. Although it probably is better than teaching safe sex, because even with protection people still get STDs, so the best thing is abstinence. But again, not very realistic. I don't think her family should be brought into it though. I don't think that Palin is saying that teaching abstinence is going to necessarily work for every person, but really even teaching safe sex doesn't always work. It doesn't necessarily mean people are actually going to use birth control. But I think that most people who sit down with their kids probably tell them not to have sex until they find the right person, so that is basically saying abstinence, haha. I don't know many parents of high school kids who would say, "its ok to have sex, just use protection." Really though, sex education, from my experience when I was in high school, was a waste. Everyone thought of it as a blow off class and didn't pay attention or really care about it. It was a time to doodle and socialize between our real academic classes. I'm sure it maybe helpful to some people, but seriously, these are kids and most of them at that age think they already know everything. I really don't feel that not having that class would have made an impact on my life at all, and I think that probably a lot of people would agree. Really though, if you are that concerned about it then you should teach your kids yourself. It doesn't always have to be up to the government or to schools to teach your kids things that you feel are important. If my kids have sex ed I'm probably still going to tell them not to have sex, so if you are unhappy with what is being taught then just sit them down and explain to them the importance of birth control. Not a huge deal, besides you're the parent and it's your responsibility to take care of and guide them anyway, not the government's. I think it did shock people at first that her daughter was pregnant, especially given Palin's philosophy on abstinence, but it is kind of silly not to like her based on that. There are SO many more important issues in this election than sex ed in high schools and it seems ridiculous for someone to base their vote on that. I honestly think that it was only such a big deal because the media needed something "bad" about Palin, so they took it and ran. Most people really don't care though.

You shouldn’t. YOU should be in charge of your private life. Why do people want the government (in any form) to run their lives??? You are awfully judgmental of teen mothers if your holding Palin’s daughter’s pregnancy up as a reason why Palin is unfit to hold office. Did you ever do anything that would cast a negative light on your mother? You state that you don’t want defensive attacks, that is not what I am trying to do…I am trying to point out that you contradict yourself within your question. I don’t agree that funding should be cut for these programs either, but cuts are going to happen no matter who is elected.
