I just graduated high-school right now as a December graduate, and I was wondering if most teens these days are really ready for adulthood. I am myself nervous as to what the future will hold. Is the country really getting teens out of high-school that are mentally prepared or not.
I do not think so. As an employer of clerical and IT help, I often find the HS grads do not have a work ethics.
One young lady came to the interview dressed like a tart thinking she would be interviewed by a male. She touted that she could answer phones, file, and keep supplies on hand. When asked to write a brief letter and find the full zip code — she just could not do it.
One college male came for an interview for a LINUX job only to ask us why we did not use Windows?
Go figure.
I have found some very good employees but they are few and far between.
Just the opinion of a small business owner.

That's not relevant. Obama and Pelosi just want them to know how to sign up for gov't benefits.
Your generation will pay for decades for the handouts Obama wants to give to the world and poorly educated people. You'll also pay to "save the planet" under Obama while China does well and becomes the #1 power in the world as Obama drives American businesses and families into bankruptcy.

It depends if they have experience. I'm 16 and i started caddying when i was 12 and I volunteer at a a hospital so i probably would be better adjusted than most. There are many teens who don't take advantage of the opportunities they have to gain experience so they will have a disadvantage.

I believe that the biggest majority of teenagers today are not ready to graduate let alone take care of themselves. From my point of view most of them are wanting to come out of high school with a job that pays well over what they are capable of performing, and most want a job that requires no physical type of work.
I truly hope that you are not one of the types that I mentioned. There are a lot of good, honest, hard working young people out there that are happy just to have a job. It's too bad that they are the minority. Good Luck!
