putting together a lullaby mixtape for my friends baby with indie songs?

Posted at October 31st, 2009 by admin

so my good friend had a baby and i wanted to put some good indie slow lullaby-ish songs together on the CD. So far I have stuff from Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky, Iron and Wine, Bijork, Dntel…

Any other song suggestions from other artists similar?

Thanks!

St.Vincent – we put a pearl into the ground
Chris Garneau – hand on the radio
Sufjan Stevens
Lisa Mitchell – Valium
Kelsey Brown – Paper thin
Holidays on ice – Great big old world

‘over the pond’ by the album leaf (featuring vocals from jonsi, the lead singer of sigur ros)….absolutely amaaazing

and some other really nice soft songs…

‘gravity rides everything’ – modest mouse (don’t like most of their stuff but this song is beautiful)

‘neighborhood #4 (7 kettles)’ – the arcade fire

‘ramona’ – the pains of being pure at heart

    ‘reckoner’ – radiohead

and anything from bon iver…i’d recommend songs like:

    - flume
    - re: Stacks
    - lump sum
    - blindsided

might not call them lullabies but they’re nice and soft and soothing :)
