Yes, you still have to take care of your daughter. But you are not required to take care of your grandchild. That is her responsibility not yours, your only responsibility is your daughter.

surely you want to support your daughter as best as you can as this is when she needs you most. STOP TRYING TO SEE IT AS A WAY OF GETTING OUT OF PAYING MAINTENANCE AND START THINKING ABOUT YOUR DAUGHTER MORE!!!!

I would think that you still have to care for your daughter, but maybe not her child.

if you have to ask strangers advice for this, I am wondering what kind of parent you are in the first place…

Where does "have to" come into it? She’s your child, and going through a difficult time. If you have to ask, I feel sorry both for her and the baby (it didn’t ask to be born) – both kids deserve better.

There are at least three things you ought to do for your daughter in addition to supporting her:

    1) Get her back in school. A high school diploma is key if she is to support herself in the future.

    2) Get her on birth control. The likelihood of girls having additional children is very high.

    3) Get her into parenting classes.
