Baby Toys: My 11 months old loves pressing buttons and taking apart anything she can?

Posted at March 9th, 2010 by admin

My daughter is 11 months old and she loves cellphones and remotes and ATMs. She just wants to press the buttons and pull strings and take apart things.
The interesting thing is that she is not attracted to any of the baby toys that have bright colors and flashing lights. She much rather take the grownup plain looking instruments like the black remote or the cellphone.
I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a toy that has tons of buttons and moving parts that she will like?

An old computer keyboard is my son’s favourite toy! Maybe something like this – http://www.amazon.com/Vtech-Winnie-Poohs-Picture-Computer/dp/B000PGCI6S/ref=pd_sim_t_4

My son’s the same :)

i don’t see anything wrong with letting her play with what she wants to. my daughter did and she still does. she loves the remote control, and the cell phones.

She may esp. like those because YOU use them. They are little imitaters at that age, and will want to do what you are doing.

An old cell phone charged up but without the sim card makes a great playtoy.

A computer keyboard. a regular keyboard. the big Lego’s, you might try one of the baby computers, best bet is to take her to the store and see which toys interest her first hand instead of guessing buying and being disappointed.

If you have an old remote control let her play with that. Or go to Walmart and buy a cheap all in one remote control and let her play with that. My daughter plays with an old digital camera. Good Luck!! *

My daughter’s favorite things are television remotes and phones. All of the toys we bought her are a complete waste because all she wants is to press the buttons on those things. So we let her play with the remote (after wiping it down first) and gave her an old cell phone. We also sit her on our laps on the computer and let her ‘type’. She loves it. No need to get another toy because it still won’t satisfy her.

If I’m paying for a toy I want it to be something that will keep him entertained for hours, my toy shopping method is to take my son into the toyshop and let him go feral! (not really- he isn’t old enough to really go feral!)
I buy the toy that keeps his attention the longest as that’s the one he’s most likely to play with at home. His favourite toys are his pull along telephone, his push walker, his little tikes cars and his steering wheel (I’ve got a budding car nut!)

My husband gave our daughter his old cell phone when he got an upgrade last month. She’s 13 months old and LOVES it! He puts in on the charger every night for her so the lights and buttons (and Tetris) keep working.

  9. I had to read it twice because my mind wondered off for some reason. I think it is because of lack of sleep. I do think you for taking the time to post this.
