My son will be a 1yr on Sept. 11 and I want to get him some good toys for his development, but I don't want nor do I have a lot of $ to spend. Where can I look for some good quality toys for him. If you know any for 5yr old my daughter will be 5 in Dec.
I love Big Lots for inexpensive toys!!

Anyone know of any good/cheap websites or stores for infant/toddler toys?

Fisher Price is a good quality brand. You can find it at almost any store. Walmart is probably the cheapest. I buy all of my children's toys at consignment stores. They are cheap and kids grow out of toys so fast – it just makes sense not to buy brand new.

ebay.com, mykidscloset.com, other auction sites.
Discount department stores such as Walmart, Target, Kmart, they have websites with clearance items, as well as clearance sections in their stores.
Discount retailers like Big Lots, Fred's, or Tuesday Morning will generally be cheaper.
Goodwill/Salvation Army/Habitat for Humanity stores might not always have the best selection, but it's cheap.

My friend buys almost all her daughter's toys at Goodwill. If you are looking for something very specific, you're out of luck, but if you just want some new toys and don't want to drop a fortune, it's great. She bought a complete Fisher Price Sweet Streets dollhouse with furniture and a family for 99 cents. One of the dolls was missing but that could happen if you bought something new and just lost a piece on your own.
She gives the toys a good washing when she gets home and steers clear of things like stuffed animals that could harbor lice and are imposssible to clean/sanitize. When her kids tire of the toy she has no problems donating them back to Goodwill since she paid so little to begin with.

You know, I use Amazon.com. Not all, but at least half, of the choices include free shipping for your purchase over $25. I've bought for my newborn nephew all the way to my 8 yr old daughter, and save over 1/2 from Target and other retail stores.
