A reflective look and discussion regarding the ever so popular Bigwheel – plastic tricycle toy – from the 1970′s, in comparison to today’s motorized jeeps, cars and toys.
Interesting observations on how, oftentimes, adults purchase toys for children without regards to their intellectual levels or interests. Motorized cars, in my experience, are such examples. Rarely do children use them more than a handful of times.

I just found a source for new ones that one $79.00 and it is just like the original.
If that is too pricey there is one available from Radio Flyer “Big Flyer” with a Strip on the front tire to add grip and prevent premature wear. I saw these at Walmart tonight.
However at the TSC near me you can buy a no body all metal pedal car with air tires for about $100 for the youth model and about $175 for the adult one so we can get in the fun again too.

my cousin had one of those motorized cars. and i was amazed by it when i was there. we would pile our dolls in the car and ride around on the sideway. stoping and pretending we were shopping at different places lol
Big Wheels were …
Big Wheels were simply the best toy of our generation. We actually used ours until our front wheel was absolutely wasted then it was time for a new one. Steep Hill+Big Wheel = fun but dangerous.
The only toy to come close to the Big Wheel was the Evil Knievel zip strip motorcycle. Now you have me reminiscing, Lincoln logs, Legos, Star Wars characters, smash derby cars.
Metal pedal cars are a far better alternative to those motorized cars. The fire truck and the tow truck ROCKS. – Cheaper Too

you are right on the mark with this one Xaves.
kids minds have not changed through the years.
i remember they also came out with a hand brake that would throw it into a skid. and i believe they also came out with bigwheels that the rear tires would swivel to help u spin out. these were a lot of fun. me and my buddies would cut the big wheels in half and take a board and put two tires on it with a rope for steering. so we used the rear of the big wheel and made our own front tire setup so we had
