Is MDF adequate for making childrens toys 3-6?

Im making cut out shapes out of MDF for children.Is this material safe for children? If not, what sheet material should I use?Thanks

Solid wood is probably the better choice… there are concerns about outgassing from the adhesives used in MDF. Also, if you’re in the US, you need to know about the CPSIA:
