how tdo i prevent childrens clothes from fading in washer?

Posted at January 21st, 2009 by admin

i dont know what to do my kids clothing fades and they are mostly gymboree and pretty good quality i am not sure if i should handwash but its just too much work, i thought about buying one of those washers that are portable because they function like a handwashing would what should i do?

tide coldwater… and its not the machine-washing thats fading them, its the warm water and, because they are kids clothes, they get washed a lot.
smaller loads with clothes that are very similar in color help a lot… like red only loads, and jean only loads… wash your dark greens with your dark blues…. this way if the colors do run, they just run into each other…
and when you wash heavy clothes, like blue-jeans with regular cotton or any less heavy material, it kind of beats them up, wearing them out faster.

Wash more in cold water and use a detergent like Cheer or Tide.
The heat in the water is what fades clothes the most.

Always use COLD water, and add a cup of salt to each load. Somehow the salt helps to keep jeans and clothes from fading. I know the cold water might not seems tough enough to get out kid stains, so be sure to pre-treat with Shout.
Good Luck & I hope this helps!

wash them in cold water, only dry them half way, then take them out and hang them up.

You can also turn them inside out when you wash them.

Wash you kids clothes in cold water. Dry on lowest heat, or hang to dry. I use Tide coldwater detergent, and it works great at cleaning their dirty clothes. Trust me, my kids are 8 & 5!!
    Good Luck!!
