How do I become an early childhood teacher in an elementary school?

Posted at February 23rd, 2009 by admin

I am graduating in December with a General Studies Bachelors degree. I want to go to graduate school or enroll in a program to become an early childhood teacher. If you know of any programs or schools I should look at please let me know. I am from Indiana and I prefer to stay in the Midwest area.

each state has different standards and some different tests so you can’t just get a degree in early ed, you have to pass the tests.

You can go to grad school, but I will be honest, you will have to be paid more so often people with no experience and grad degrees are less likely to be hired.

You want to look for an Alternative Certification Program in your area. You will get training, take tests, and your first year teaching will probably be your “internship.” However, each program is different so you will have to google “ACP Indiana” and see if your state even offers ACPs.
