it's a classroom setting and i'm trying to get them to treat each other respectfully and learn to work together on assignments instead of name calling and teasing and making racist jokes and saying, "eew, i'm not doing this cuz i don't wanna work with her. i don't like her."

Generally anything which requires group effort would help, although you'd need to make sure that the members cooperate instead of fighting. Scavenger hunts and capture the flag are good, as well as any team sport.
However, if you could provide more information, you might get better answers. For example, are you just trying to break the ice? Or are you trying to rebuild the relationships between people who actually dislike each other?
